Following the Israeli aggression on Gaza on December 2008, Turkish-Israeli relations deteriorated markedly. Turkish mediation concerning the indirect Syrian-Israeli negotiations was halted and the Israeli government expressed displeasure with the critical attitude of the Turks concerning its policies in the Arab occupied territories.
